This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a therapeutic, trauma-informed school environment supporting pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and a range of communication difficulties, often linked with associated SEND and developmental trauma.
This role is ideal for a passionate SLT who is confident working independently, collaborating with teachers and other professionals, and delivering impactful intervention to children with complex profiles.

Key Responsibilities:

* Deliver individual and group speech and language therapy sessions tailored to pupils' needs and EHCP targets.

* Assess pupils on entry and throughout their time at school, producing clear and informative reports for parents, carers, and professionals.

* Support and advise staff on communication strategies and embed SaLT approaches across the curriculum.

* Develop and implement speech, language and communication plans in collaboration with teaching staff and other therapists.

* Provide in-class support to model and reinforce therapeutic communication techniques.

* Monitor, evaluate and report on pupils' progress using standardised and non-standardised assessment tools.

* Liaise with families and external professionals (e.g. CAMHS, social care) to ensure consistent support across settings.

* Offer training and coaching for school staff on communication, language development and related strategies.

* Support pupils during transitions or reintegration phases, including developing social stories, visual supports, and communication aids.

* Maintain up-to-date and confidential records in line with professional and statutory guidelines.

Person Specification:
Essential:

* Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy and registration with HCPC and RCSLT.

* Experience working with children and young people with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and other SEND.

* Experience in an educational or therapeutic school setting.

* Strong understanding of developmental language disorders, communication difficulties and the impact of trauma on language acquisition.

* Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teaching and therapeutic teams.

* Ability to create and deliver engaging therapy programmes for a range of communication needs.

* Confident in writing reports and managing caseloads effectively.

* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection responsibilities.

* Flexible, resilient, and proactive approach.

Desirable:

* Training in Makaton, PECS, or other augmentative communication systems.

* Additional qualifications or CPD in SEMH or trauma-informed practice.
