Are you a skilled SEN Teaching Assistant with Team Teach training? Ready to take the next step in a specialist school setting?

We’re working in partnership with a well established SEN school in Wakefield that supports children and young people aged 11–18 with autism, learning difficulties, and complex behavioural needs. The school is looking for a Level 2 qualified SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time from September.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone experienced in supporting pupils with additional needs, particularly those with SEMH, ASD, or non-verbal communication challenges. Team Teach training is essential due to the behavioural profile of some students.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Using Team Teach de-escalation strategies to manage challenging behaviour
  • Collaborating with SENCOs and class teachers to deliver personalised learning plans
  • Promoting independence, emotional regulation, and life skills
  • Creating a structured, consistent and safe learning environment for students with high needs

What We’re Looking For:

  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or higher)
  • Team Teach certification (Desired but not compulsory)
  • Experience working with pupils with autism, SEMH, or complex needs
  • Resilience, calm under pressure, and a solution-focused mindset
  • Full-time availability

What’s On Offer:

  • £97.68 – £110 per day
  • Ongoing CPD training available
  • Join a supportive school community with excellent leadership
  • Gain hands-on experience in a highly specialist setting
  • Opportunities for long-term roles or permanent contracts

Ideal Backgrounds:

  • SEN School or Alternative Provision experience
  • Residential or youth work with challenging behaviour
  • Mental health or therapeutic services for young people
  • Former care or behaviour support staff
