CONSTRUCTION TUTOR - MULTI-TRADES

Term Time Only - working 41 weeks per annum - 11 weeks holiday - permanent.

If you have broad based construction skills, had you thought about using your knowledge to work with young people to provide them with practical multi-trades skills?

The Role:

* You'd be giving practical demonstrations on various aspects of low level construction skills - bricklaying, carpentry, painting and decorating.

* You would be working with a class room of no more than seven young people.

* You'd be providing young people with tasters of basic level construction skills that will help them secure construction apprenticeships or further training when they leave school.

* The training centre is in the East Midlands area within a well equipped workshop.

* 90% of the training is practical as the company have found that this is the way most young people learn best.

* Working hours are 8.00 a.m. - 4.00 p.m. but classes are 9.30 a.m. - 3.00 p.m. Four days a week so plenty time for admin etc.

* Instead of working 52 weeks per year you'd be working 41 weeks per year (11 weeks holiday) so the salary of £25,000 equates to a full time salary of nearly £32,000.

* The salary increases by 5% per annum.

The company

* You'd be working with a training provider who have many years experience in working with school children and giving them basic skills in construction.

* Following on from receiving this training, this training provider boasts an impressive track record of the young people who go down the construction apprenticeship route.

* You'd be working for a small, dedicated training provider, who have been established for more than 10 years.

* In return for your construction industry skills and knowledge you would be mentored and supported in your journey to becoming a fully fledged tutor, if you don't already possess formal teaching qualifications.

* You will have the opportunity to study for training qualifications (if you don't already possess them) which will enhance your own personal development and career prospects.

* Most of the company's staff have come from industry and they have an exceptional track record in training the next generation of tutors.

The candidate

* Experience within any construction trades - carpentry, joinery, bricklaying, plastering, painting, tiling, etc.

* Previous experience of working with young people or teaching / training / mentoring - maybe you have been an activity leader, cub/beaver volunteer, sports coach, foster carer - any experience like that would be relevant.

* Good, clear communication skills. You must be able to give clear instructions and have a good command of the English language both written and verbal.

* The desire to work with young people and share your knowledge to help set them up for the future
