Behaviour/Youth Mentor
Location: Borough of Ealing
Working Hours: 08:30 am - 16:00 pm.
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Until July 2026, with potential for a permanent role by February 2026.

We’re looking for dedicated Behaviour Mentors / Youth Mentors to join a specialist SEMH school in the Borough of Ealing, supporting students aged 5–24 with:
- Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Autism (ASC)
- ADHD
- Learning Difficulties
- Challenging behaviours
The RoleAs a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in helping students break down barriers to learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills. You will work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families to create a safe, positive, and supportive school environment.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Behaviour Support: Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to help students regulate emotions and develop positive behaviours.
- De-escalation & Crisis Management: Use proven strategies to safely manage challenging situations and maintain a calm learning environment.
- Role Modelling: Inspire students through your own conduct, promoting respect, resilience, and self-belief.
- Collaboration: Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to implement and review behaviour support plans.
- Progress Tracking: Monitor and record student behaviour, sharing progress with colleagues and parents/carers.
- Building Relationships: Establish trust with students to encourage engagement, motivation, and personal growth.
- Life Skills Development: Support students in developing social skills, independence, and emotional awareness.
What We’re Looking ForWe welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds, including education, youth work, sports coaching, and community mentoring.
Essential Qualities:
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, Autism, ADHD, or behavioural challenges
- Strong behaviour management skills with a calm, confident approach
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships
- Resilience and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students
- Excellent communication skills with both young people and adults
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a SEMH school or alternative provision
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or restorative approaches
- Youth mentoring, sports coaching, or outreach work background
