Leader Group is working on behalf of a specialist SEND school to recruit a dedicated and experienced Deputy Headteacher with a strong focus on behaviour, pastoral care, and attendance.

About the Role

This is a key leadership position within a specialist setting, ideal for a passionate and resilient professional who is committed to improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs.

You will take strategic and operational responsibility for behaviour, pastoral provision, and attendance, ensuring that every pupil is supported to engage positively with education. Working closely with the Headteacher and wider leadership team, you will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where pupils can thrive.

This specialist SEND school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

The school is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment, with a strong emphasis on building relationships, promoting positive behaviour, and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities

Lead on behaviour management strategies, ensuring a consistent and effective approach across the school
Oversee pastoral care systems, supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing and personal development
Drive improvements in attendance through targeted interventions and close monitoring
Support staff in managing challenging behaviour, providing guidance, training, and coaching
Work closely with families, carers, and external agencies to support pupil progress and wellbeing

Contribute to whole-school leadership, helping to shape policies and drive continuous improvement

About You

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
Proven experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly SEMH needs
Strong leadership experience in behaviour and/or pastoral roles
Calm, resilient, and solution-focused approach
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners to succeed
