Laser Process Engineer

This is a great opportunity for an experienced and motivated Laser Process Engineer to join the site based in Cannock work toward to support the company`s programme and engineering activities. WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE? In this position you will be responsible for supporting the Process Engineering Manager from a technical viewpoint, reviewing and introducing advancement of design and equipment proposed for future projects. You will also be responsible for the following process: - Taking the Laser Cutting Process from concept through to production - Developing the process from receipt of order through specification, introduction optimisation to volume production - Developing supplier sources and nominating/recommending sources for specifics. Nominating long term relationships (equipment/system suppliers) - Streamlining the Production process and provide guidance where required - Interrogation of CAD and Development of CAD for conversion into Functional Cutting Paths In the position of Laser Process Engineer you will also be responsible for carrying out the following duties: - Applying the '5s' standard to the working environment during Cell implementation - Implementation of best practice throughout the laser cutting process - Reviewing approving the fixture design process layouts from supplier - Work alongside quality engineers on reviewing control and gauge plans - Representing the business in a highly professional and corporate manner in front of customers and suppliers - Completing commissioning mass production trials offsite in plant and also Pre Final Buy Off's at suppliers including managing the supply of sample parts or build parts - Monitoring internal supplier timing plans and escalate accordingly when to plan - Creating and updating Tech File including Standardised Work Instruction sheets - Supporting the production for 90 day plan after start of production on new cell introduced into plant - Escalating risks and issues in a timely manner - Ensuring risk assessment is completed prior to handover of process to manufacturing and ensure Health Safety is of paramount importance WHAT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION? - HNC Qualification in manufacturing or engineering - A proven background of assembly knowledge - In depth knowledge of O.E.M`s specific requirements - The ability to plan and manage objectives and priorities despite conflicting agendas and multiple deliveries - Firm knowledge of CAD and Autodesk products - Basic "G" code programming - Experience of 3D laser cutting principles for hot stamping in mass production would be beneficial - Strong knowledge of tooling, such as laser machine process, welding assembly (MIG / TIG / projection / spot), fixture design, assembly and robot automation - General computer literacy with a working knowledge of all relevant software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Autodesk - Must demonstrate a positive attitude towards change, with a willingness to be flexible and adapt to new circumstances - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - A strong desire to develop new skills and progress professionally WHAT ARE THE FINER DETAILS OF YOUR ROLE? This is a full time permanent position working day shift. You will be required to work overtime and on the weekend as and when requested.
