Support Worker - Residential Children's Home

Location: Ashbourne
Salary: Up to £26,150

Key Health are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join a Residential Children's Home focused on providing exceptional care for children with learning disabilities. This role is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people by supporting them in developing independence, confidence, and a fulfilling life.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

Provide direct, hands-on care and assistance to children with learning disabilities, prioritizing their well-being and dignity.

*

Help with personal care, including support with dressing, hygiene, and feeding where necessary.

*

Facilitate children's involvement in educational and recreational activities, encouraging participation both at home and within the local community.

*

Establish trusting relationships to foster emotional development and bolster self-esteem.

*

Create and implement personalized care plans to support each child's growth and development.

*

Collaborate closely with colleagues, parents, and external professionals, such as therapists and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care.

*

Contribute to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and clean environment within the home.

*

Observe and document each child's progress, noting any changes in behaviour or care needs.

*

Use de-escalation methods and positive reinforcement to manage challenging situations.

*

Safeguard the children, adhering to company policies and procedures to ensure their safety at all times.

Who We're Looking For:

*

Previous experience in supporting children, particularly those with learning disabilities, is highly desirable.

*

A Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or an equivalent qualification is beneficial but not required.

*

Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children and their families.

*

A compassionate, patient, and understanding approach to supporting young people with additional needs.

*

Skills in managing challenging behaviours calmly and effectively.

*

Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays (sleep-in duties may be required).

*

A valid driving licence with business insurance.
