Official Title: Maintenance Worker- Cleaner / Housekeeping - 3rd Shift

Supervisor: Assistant Director - Janitorial Work Leader

FLSA Status: Hourly

Schedule: 3rd Shift: 10:30PM-7:00AM; SUNDAY-THURSDAY

Job Summary:

Perform a variety of cleaning duties to maintain the cleanliness of assigned areas.

Tasks/Duties Performed:

The responsibilities of the position will include, but may not be limited to:

Dispose of trash from bins and containers

  • Dust, polish and clean surface areas
  • Perform general sweeping, mopping and vacuuming of floors and stairs
  • Service restrooms; clean and disinfect sinks, communal surfaces, and toilets
  • Clean glass surfaces and mirrors
  • Ensure bathrooms are stocked with toilet paper and soap
  • Ensure walkways are free and clear of debris
  • Empty trash cans
  • Notify management of deficiencies or needs for repairs
  • Follow all health and safety regulations, wear protective gear when required
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Work collaboratively and professional will all co-workers and members of the campus community

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to follow verbal directions
  • Ability to work alone or with a partner or team
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Attention to detail and a positive attitude a must

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to reach, stretch, bend and walk during the daily routine, with ability to stand for long lengths of time
  • Ability to push a vacuum cleaner for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 25 to 30 pounds

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license required for maintenance workers assigned to pick up trash collected from buildings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous cleaning experience preferred; training will be provided
  • Previous office experiences is a plus for covering phones and filing back-up in office


Position is full time, 40 hours per week, non-exempt staff and may require additional hours during peak periods or inclement weather. Benefits are available the first of the month following the full-time employee's date of hire and include health, dental, vision insurance, and fully paid life insurance. In addition, we offer fully paid long term disability insurance after 3 months of employment. Eligibility for the 403b retirement plan is available to full-time employees upon hire and an 8% employer match after one year of service. Excellent time off benefits for holidays, vacation and personal time is included. Tuition waiver benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents.

Post-Hire Trainings

  • Various trainings assigned upon hire and annually thereafter by the Office of Employee Engagement.
