Job Description
 

AIS Healthcare, a high-quality specialty pharmacy and national leader in the provision of intrathecal pain pump medications and comprehensive pharmacy services, seeks an experienced full-time Pharmacy Technician that is familiar with USP <797> and USP <800> for our new Dallas, TX location. (The pharmacy hours will be Monday-Friday, 11 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.)

 

 

 

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for accurately and efficiently performing order entry along with verifying and assisting pharmacists in the cleanroom. The Pharmacy Technician also assists with quality control, maintenance and cleaning of the pharmacy work areas, as described in the Pharmacy Policy and Procedures Manual, and performance improvement activities as directed by the pharmacy manager

Required Education & Experience:

 

 

 

· Licensed Registered Pharmacist in good sanding with the Texas State Board pf Pharmacy.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent is required.

 

· Registration with the Texas Board of Pharmacy is required.

 

· Completion of pharmacy technician training and certified through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Pharmacy Technician Association.

 

· Laboratory or healthcare experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

 

 

· Recognizes patients’ rights and responsibilities and supports them in the performance of job duties; respects patient’s rights to privacy and confidentiality.

 

· Processes patient specific orders from the physician.

 

· Completes the order entry process for all prescriptions sent in to the pharmacy.

 

· Verifies that the pharmacist pulls the correct drug and the correct amount of drug based on the compounding record.

 

· Ensures pharmacists have all supplies needed for compounding.

 

· Confirms what the pharmacist has in the syringe and assists with any inaccuracies.

 

· Cleans the cleanroom and other areas of the pharmacy based on pharmacy policies and procedures to ensure the facility is USP <797> compliant.

 

· Communicates with pharmacists throughout the compounding process to ensure orders are correct.

 

· Reworks order if an inaccuracy is detected and helps conduct a root cause analysis to determine how the mistake was made to ensure it does not happen again.

 

· Maintains “staging” area to set up drug and supply orders for preparation by staff in the clean room.

 

· Obtains, interprets, and evaluates all physician medication orders.

 

· Verifies accuracy of dispensing, medical, and laboratory data.

 

· Performs bubble point integrity test according to pharmacy policy and procedures.

 

· Garb (dress) into appropriate and distinctive cleanroom attire before entering the compounding area. This includes a full coverall with integrated hood, goggles, gloves, shoe covers, and a facemask in an effort to obtain 100% skin coverage.

 

· Participates in initial training and competencies as well as ongoing training associated with the performance of job duties.

 

· Accurately maintains all legally required records.

 

· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

 

· Assists the supervisor in training of new staff and provides appropriate feedback as necessary.

 

· Maintains department facilities, equipment, and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff.

 

· Follows and assists in inventory control procedures.

 

· Completes paperwork and computer related duties.

 

· Shares knowledge gained with other staff members and works as a team member.

 

· Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner.

 

· Performs other job related duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

Qualification Requirements:

 

· Must pass all pharmacy and sterile compounding competencies within the first 90 days of employment.

 

· Must be able to fully comply with garbing requirements outlined in the essential duties and responsibilities section as well as in company policies and procedures for extended periods of time.

 

· Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in the workplace.

 

· Demonstrate extreme attention to detail and accuracy.

 

· Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

 

· Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

 

· Good personal hygiene.

 

· Must follow all personnel hygiene and gowning requirements as outlined in USP <797>.

 

· Basic computer proficiency.

 

· Knowledge in the use of Microsoft applications.
