My client is a market leading company within construction wo due to growth are recruiting a new head of finance to manage and lead a team of 6, with opportunities to make a difference and grow and develop the finance side of the business, lead their finance function and play a pivotal role in strategic decisions making across the UK

About the Role

As Head of Finance UK, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the UK business operations and delivering timely, insightful financial information to support executive leadership. You will lead a small finance team, ensure strong financial controls, and drive strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting activities.

Responsibilities

* Main point of contact for communication within the finance team and between the UK and European finance teams.

* Leads finance function in local entity and assigned sales regions and ensures financial target achievement (budget/forecast) via best in class finance organisation, tools and processes.

* Neutrality/objectivity - ensuring sparring and business partner to the adjacent functions (mainly commercial and operations) to ensure financial target-achievement and to add value in cross-functional projects and processes coupled with a high degree of solution and service orientation.

* Secures effective and efficient accounting and reporting processes ideally with a high degree of centralisation, digitalisation and automation.

* Responsible for planning cycles (budget, monthly forecast, evtl, strategic planning).

* Compliance and legal gatekeeper for local entity ideally driving towards highly automated controls.

* General insurance responsibility. Insurance for claims involved.

* Approval and validation of all Capex investments, Operating System savings and long-term contractual agreements in line with approval matrix.

* Enables the organisation via future-fit performance KPI's and value-added management information instead of data on the basis of a harmonised and integrated ERP and BI systems across Europe.

* Improving the quality of analyses and reporting as well as presentations to the European Senior Leadership Team by coaching employees.

* M&A projects, strategic planning and improvement projects.

* Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including year-end audit, tax filings and VAT returns.

* Oversee payroll, pensions, and other financial operations in collaboration with HR.

* Manage relationships with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, and HMRC.

Qualifications

* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

* Proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally within an SME or mid-sized business (£20m-£100m turnover).

Required Skills

* Strong IT, ERP and BI process-involvement.

* Strong technical accounting and commercial finance background.

* Experience in leading finance teams and developing finance functions.

* High proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, and cash flow management.

* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

* Able to operate at both strategic and hands-on operational levels.

* Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem solving abilities.

Preferred Skills

* Experience in M&A projects.

* Experience in strategic planning and improvement projects.
