A warm and nurturing Early Years setting in Enfield is seeking a confident and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team as soon as possible. You do not need an HLTA qualification - but strong Early Years experience is essential, especially supporting children with developmental delays, speech and language needs, or additional learning needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about early childhood development, play-based learning, and giving young children the best possible start.
What You'll Be Doing: -
Delivering small group and one-to-one activities to support early learning goals
-
Leading high-quality play-based sessions that develop communication, social skills, and independence
-
Supporting the class teacher with planning and adapting activities for children with a range of early learning needs
-
Working closely with the Early Years Lead, SENCO, and external professionals such as speech & language therapists
-
Modelling strong practice and offering guidance to Teaching Assistants when required
-
Contributing to observations, assessments, and next-step planning in line with the EYFS framework
-
Helping to create a calm, safe, and stimulating learning environment
What We're Looking For: Essential:
-
Strong Early Years experience (nursery or Reception), including supporting children with SEN
-
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with young children and families
-
A calm, nurturing, and patient approach rooted in play-based learning
-
Confidence working independently with small groups or individual children
Desirable (but not essential):
-
Experience in a nursery, children's centre, or specialist EYFS SEN provision
-
Knowledge of early intervention strategies or approaches such as PECs, Makaton, Attention Autism, or sensory-based support
-
Experience mentoring or supporting other staff
Why Join This School? -
A supportive Early Years team and leadership who value high-quality practice
-
Opportunities for continuous professional development
-
A setting that prioritises child wellbeing, early intervention, and inclusive teaching
-
Clear progression routes into more senior Early Years or intervention roles
