Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Children’s Residential Deputy Manager to support the daily operations of a 2-bed children’s home in Warrington. This is a rewarding opportunity for a child-focused professional with a strong understanding of Ofsted regulations and a passion for delivering outstanding care. Hours: 37 hours per week (rota-based, including sleep-in duties)You will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the home operates in line with the Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and Warrington Borough Council policies. The role includes a mix of leadership, operational, and hands-on care responsibilities.The postholder is responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and/or vulnerable adults at all times.Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People’s Care or equivalent diploma in Social Care.
  • Valid First Aid and Fire Safety certificates.
  • Team Teach or equivalent training (PMVA, CPI, MAPA or Physical Intervention)
  • Proven experience working with children and young people in a social care setting.
  • Strong understanding of young people’s needs and behaviours.
  • Experience supervising staff and working in emotionally responsive environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.

Key Responsibilities

1. Young People’s Welfare:

  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and safeguarding of all residents.
  • Support children’s health, education, recreation, and life skills development.
  • Promote a culture of respect, dignity, and inclusion.

2. Operational Management:

  • Assist in managing staff rotas and covering absences.
  • Support audits, care file reviews, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee medication administration and health appointment attendance.
  • Respond to incidents, complaints, and ensure access to advocacy services.

3. Staff Leadership:

  • Provide supervision, guidance, and leadership to care staff.
  • Conduct appraisals and assess staff performance and development needs.
  • Promote adherence to policies and procedures.

4. Resource & Property Management:

  • Support budget management and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Ensure the home is well-maintained and repairs are arranged promptly.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and update risk assessments.

5. Professional Conduct:

  • Represent the service in external meetings and forums.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism and public engagement.
  • Undertake additional duties as required by the council.
