Our client, Reading Council, is seeking an agency social worker for its Learning Disability and Neurodiversity team.
This is a full-time, 3-month assignment paying £40 umbrella.
The role will involve the following:
- Provide high-quality social work practice
- Contributing to complex case management
- Risk assessments
- Safeguarding
- Strength-based interventions for adults with learning disabilities, autism, and other neurodiverse needs.
- This role requires a practitioner with strong professional judgment, the ability to lead on complex cases, and confidence in multi-agency working.
- The Senior Social Worker will support colleagues within the team, offer guidance on statutory duties, and ensure that all practice aligns with the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and related legislation.
- They will be expected to maintain clear, accurate case records and ensure timely progression of assessments and reviews.

Requirements of the role:
- Qualified Social Worker
- Fully Social Work England registered
- Must have significant post-qualified experience in statutory adult social care
- Must have significant experience working with adults with learning disabilities, autism and other neurodiverse needs
- Due to the operational needs of the service, the post-holder must be within a commutable distance of Reading, as regular office attendance will be required for meetings, supervision, and collaborative working. The role also involves face-to-face home visits, community engagement, and partnership working with health, housing, and voluntary sector providers.
