This large manufacturing organisation designs and manufactures at significantly tight tolerances and exports to a range of countries internationally. They have incredibly strict processes and standards in their engineering to ensure the highest standards in safety and have 4 main sites in the UK, along with multiple sites in Europe and the US. As a group they turnover over £4 billion annually, and have a very strong order book of £18 billion, ensuring that even with no further business or new orders, they could comfortably operate as they are for circa 5 years.
The Job
This role as Finance Manager, will head up the business partnering team of the organisation. You will deliver financial expertise and guidance to the Manufacturing function to achieve its annual objectives.
This is a 'hands-on' role that will require you to be involved in working up the detail.
You and your team will essentially business partner production through the phases of electrical manufacturing and engineering of component parts, as well as overseeing all commercial finance elements of manufacturing: budgeting and forecasting; business planning; bids and tenders; costings; investments; continuous improvement initiatives etc. The organisation is also implementing SAP 4/HANA and you will lead on the support for this within your department.
In this role, you will be the Deputy to the UK Head of Manufacturing Finance and you will be the line manager for the UK Manufacturing Finance team.
You will:
- Provide financial expertise to operational stall, delivering accurate, timely and valuable management information
- Be the finance point of contact for all project related activity within the organisation.
- Provide financial control for the investment plans for all manufacturing capabilities and facilities
- Complete the monthly Balance Sheet reconciliation process
- Support the SAP 4/HANA Implementation Lead on the manufacturing business process interfaces for the upgrade
- Be a key representative for manufacturing Continuous Improvement initiatives
Requirements
- You will be a qualified accountant with experience within a large, manufacturing based environment
- Experience of SAP and an associated Manufacturing Execution System would be a significant advantage
- Knowledge of manufacturing based performance metrics
- Willingness to travel to other MBDA UK sites as and when needed, as well as Europe if required
- Proven experience of managing and developing teams, within a Manufacturing environment

This role will pay up to £75,000 basic, depending on experience, but with a bonus of up to 27% base salary, with an average pay out over the last 10 years of over 20%.
