Senior Health & Safety Manager - Mechanical & Electrical Construction

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contractor seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Manager to lead and manage health, safety, and environmental strategy across a major M&E construction project.

This is a high-profile role on a large, technically complex site. You will take ownership of health and safety performance, working closely with project leadership, subcontractors, and operatives to ensure a culture of proactive risk management and regulatory compliance.

This position is ideally suited to someone with a strong M&E or technical construction background and a proven track record of driving health & safety best practice in demanding environments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the health and safety strategy across the entire M&E project lifecycle.

*

Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific safety plans, RAMS, and compliance systems.

*

Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

*

Promote a strong safety culture through training, engagement, and behavioural safety initiatives.

*

Advise project and site management teams on statutory and company H&S obligations.

*

Interface with subcontractors to ensure safe systems of work and coordinated site practices.

*

Prepare safety reports, documentation, and KPI dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.

*

Keep up to date with legislation and lead initiatives for continuous improvement in HSEQ performance.

Requirements

*

Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager on large-scale M&E or technical construction projects - essential.

*

NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 health & safety qualification.

*

Chartered Membership of IOSH (or working toward) highly desirable.

*

In-depth knowledge of UK HSE legislation, CDM Regulations, and M&E-specific hazards.

*

Ability to influence at all levels and foster a positive H&S culture on complex, live sites.

*

Strong communication, leadership, and report-writing skills.

*

Experience working in environments with multiple contractors and high-value works.
