Overview
A well-established, innovation-driven manufacturing business is seeking an Electrical?Maintenance?Engineer to join its site engineering team in Northampton. Key Purpose of the Role
Provide electrical and mechanical maintenance support to production plant and auxiliary equipment, maximising machine availability while ensuring all work is completed safely and to the required quality standards.
Core Responsibilities
Typical Activities/Planned Maintenance
Execute tasks from the planned-maintenance schedule; complete service sheets and highlight any follow-up actions.
Breakdown Response
Diagnose and repair equipment faults, log actions taken, and advise the Engineering Supervisor/Chief Engineer of parts or additional downtime required.
Spare-Parts Management
Order and expedite parts when necessary to meet production deadlines.
Contractor Management
Assist and oversee external engineers during machinery installation or service work, ensuring compliance with site safety rules and permit-to-work systems.
Continuous Improvement
Contribute ideas to enhance equipment reliability and plant performance; attend on or off-site training as required.
Compliance & Safety
Maintain personal and contractor adherence to all site Health, Safety, Hygiene and Quality procedures.
Flexibility
Support overtime requirements, night-shift rota and periodic shutdowns to meet business needs.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Recognised Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications
- Minimum 17th?Edition IET Wiring Regulations
- Proven experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks and take ownership of results
Desirable:
- PLC fault-finding/programming exposure
- Familiarity with print processing machinery or similar industrial equipment an advantage
- Continuous-improvement mindset (e.g., Lean, TPM)
Hours & Shift Pattern
- Rotating day shifts: 06:00?-?13:00 and 13:00?-?20:00, Monday-Friday
- Basic 35-hour working week
- Overtime available at 1.5× (double-time Saturdays?14:00 onwards & Sundays)
