SuperCare is seeking an experienced and confident Senior Support Worker (Day Role) to join our children's residential home in Eastbourne. As a senior member of the day team, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for young people with autism, ADHD, epilepsy, severe learning disabilities, and complex communication needs.
In this role, you will support young people throughout their daily routines, lead activities, model best practice to junior staff, and ensure the home remains positive, child-centred, and trauma-informed.
RequirementsLevel 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or young person equivalent) - essential
Previous experience supporting children in a residential environment
Full UK driving licence - important
What You'll DoAs a Senior Support Worker on day shifts, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting Young PeopleProvide nurturing, consistent support to young people with autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and severe learning disabilities working on rolling rota of 1 day on and 2 days off.
Help children navigate their day, including education, activities, community outings, and daily living tasks.
Use communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, visual timetables, and other AAC tools to support non-verbal or minimally verbal children.
Respond confidently and calmly to behaviours that challenge, including spitting, hair-pulling, hitting, grabbing, or self-harm.
Provide personal care and support while contributing to a safe, welcoming 'home-way-from-home' environment for young people.
Monitor epilepsy and respond appropriately to seizures and health needs.
Leading and Supporting StaffModel trauma-informed, relationship-based practice for junior colleagues.
Assist with onboarding and coaching less experienced staff.
Provide reassurance, guidance, and leadership during behaviour incidents.
Promote high standards of safeguarding, documentation, and professional conduct.
Additional DutiesDrive young people into the community for activities, appointments, and emergency situations.
Support the planning and delivery of stimulating activities that promote independence, communication, and emotional well being.
What We're Looking ForWe're seeking a confident, skilled, and compassionate professional who brings leadership and stability to the day team:
Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and severe learning disabilities
Skilled in non-verbal communication approaches (PECS, Makaton, visual supports)
Understanding of PBS, sensory regulation, and de-escalation
Resilient and able to manage difficult behaviours safely and calmly
Active, engaged, and able to support children throughout a busy daytime schedule
Compassionate, bubbly, reliable, and confident.
