Legal Support Officer - Local Authority

Rochdale Borough Council is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Support Officer to join their Finance, Revenues & Benefits team. This role is crucial in supporting both Children and Adults legal teams, including the preparation of bundles for family court and the court of protection. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to services that impact our community directly.
Day-to-day of the role:
General Support Duties:
- Perform clerical and administrative tasks across various teams.
- Manage information using different systems, including document management.
- Provide excellent customer service in person, over the phone, and via email.
- Handle enquiries and correspondence related to Revenues & Benefits.
- Engage in continuous training and improvement of service processes.
Cash Control:
- Address payment queries from the public and financial institutions.
- Maintain and manage Direct Debit payments and use payment software for income management.
Systems Duties:
- Manage daily outputs such as service emails and system documents.
- Handle outgoing and incoming mail, scan, and index documents.
Cashiers:
- Process and manage transactions, including cheque receipting and banking.
Financial Processing:
- Process various financial documents and transactions within set deadlines.
- Perform financial reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working in a financial environment.
- Proficient in using IT systems, including Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Proven track record of positive contributions in previous roles.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and team-oriented.
