Senior Electrical Design Engineer - London
A well-established, multi-disciplinary building-services contractor is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its London team. The organisation operates across the residential, hospitality, education, commercial, and healthcare sectors, delivering innovative, compliant, and sustainable building-services solutions throughout the UK and Ireland.

The successful candidate will lead the electrical design function on major Design & Build projects, ensuring high technical standards, full regulatory compliance, and seamless coordination with multidisciplinary teams throughout all project phases.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the electrical engineering elements of MEP designs, collaborating closely with mechanical, BIM, and CDP teams.

* Oversee end-to-end project delivery—from concept through to detailed design—producing calculations, reports, schematics, specifications, and technical schedules.

* Ensure all designs meet client requirements and comply with relevant British Standards, building regulations, and environmental frameworks such as Part L, BREEAM, and LEED.

* Participate in and, when required, lead design meetings, workshops, and the development of design documentation including Basis of Design and Engineering Reports.

* Contribute to tendering, estimating, and value-engineering activities.

* Manage project timelines, budgets, design risks, and client communication.

* Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and support construction teams throughout delivery.

Qualifications

Essential:

* Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.

Desirable:

* Chartered membership with a relevant professional body (IET, CIBSE, EI, SLL).

Experience & Knowledge

Essential:

* Minimum 3 years' experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within building services.

* Strong working knowledge of British Standards, Building Regulations, and CIBSE guidance.

Desirable:

* Familiarity with sustainability frameworks such as BREEAM, LEED, or WELL.

* Experience with BIM processes, including clash detection (e.g., Navisworks).

Skills & Abilities

Essential:

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

* Proven experience mentoring junior engineers.

* Strong organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines.

* Competent in AutoCAD and engineering design software.

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Desirable:

* Understanding of modular MEP design and off-site construction principles.
