• Overseeing financial compliance and acting as the main contact for year-end and statutory accounts
• Reviewing management account packs (P&L, budgets, balance sheets, KPIs, utilisation rates, margin analysis)
• Managing month-end close and ensuring timely reporting to directors
• Leading, mentoring, and developing a finance team of two, including upskilling and handling queries
• Providing cover for the Finance Manager during absences
• Overseeing payroll operations and signing off on amendments
• Driving process improvements, strengthening controls, and enhancing systems for efficiency and scalability
• Managing corporate responsibility and governance (DEI, GDPR, fraud, anti-bribery, ECOVaders accreditation)
• Liaising with IT providers on finance-related systems projects

What you will need:

• Previous experience in a similar role (Head of Finance, Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or similar) within an SME environment
• Ability to work independently, adapt to change, and get hands-on when needed
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach
• Experience with Sage 50 and advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUPs, pivots)
• A track record of mentoring and developing finance teams
• Qualified (CIMA, ACCA or ACA)
