Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking dedicated and resilient SEMH Teachers to join a network of specialist settings across Bristol.
About the Role
As an SEMH Teacher, you will work with pupils who may present challenging behaviours and have complex emotional needs. You will play a vital role in supporting their academic progress, emotional development, and overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs.
- Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and external agencies.
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records.
- Promote positive behaviour strategies and restorative practices.
- Support pupils with transitions and reintegration where appropriate.
Expectations
- Strong understanding of SEMH and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
- Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and families.
- Excellent classroom management and de-escalation skills.
- Flexibility, patience, and a trauma-informed approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience working with SEMH or within SEND settings is highly desirable.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
