We are currently seeking an experienced and hands-on Engineering Supervisor to join a dynamic team. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering (HOE), this is a key leadership role responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of the Engineering Department. You will play a crucial role in ensuring plant machinery, maintenance, and utilities are operating effectively through both preventative and reactive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities - Actively manage and support the overall Engineering Department operations.
- Drive Health & Safety initiatives across the department and wider site.
- Assist in planning and implementing the Preventative Maintenance Programme (PPM).
- Monitor and improve systems for plant and machinery uptime; proactively address any potential downtime risks.
- Supervise and support Shift Engineers and Engineering Assistants to deliver high-quality maintenance and cleaning schedules.
- Ensure all spare parts inventory is maintained and discrepancies reported to the HOE.
- Liaise closely with the Production Team to coordinate emergency repairs and minimise operational disruption.
- Maintain and enforce safe systems of work and support H&S audits and compliance activities.
- Provide shift cover when required (including holidays, sickness, training), and participate in the engineering on-call rota.
- Assist with training and development of the engineering team.
- Lead daily and monthly meetings in the absence of the HOE.
- Uphold strict confidentiality in relation to company operations and employee matters.
- Promote and maintain cleanliness, organisation, and safety in all engineering workspaces.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety and COSHH requirements.
We’re looking for someone with - Proven experience in an engineering supervisory or management role, ideally within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and plant maintenance.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- A proactive, solution-oriented approach with a strong attention to detail.
- A flexible and dependable attitude, especially regarding shift cover and call-outs.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and safe systems of work.
- Relevant qualifications in Engineering or a related field (HNC/HND/Apprenticeship or equivalent).
