Contract Automation QA Engineer (Playwright)

Overview
Ocho is partnering with a global organisation to hire a Contract Automation QA Engineer to support the build and enhancement of their modern test automation framework. This role is outside IR35 and sits within a high-performing engineering team focused on improving quality, reliability and delivery speed across a complex product suite.

We have already successfully placed an engineer into this team and have another role still live, giving strong insight into the environment and a clear pathway for onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Playwright

• Develop end-to-end, UI and API test automation suites

• Collaborate closely with developers, product and DevOps teams in an Agile environment

• Improve test coverage and reduce reliance on manual testing

• Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines

• Identify, document and track defects clearly

Person We Are Looking For

• Strong commercial experience in automation testing

• Proven hands-on Playwright experience (essential)

• JavaScript or TypeScript experience

• Strong API testing knowledge

• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps etc.)

• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced Agile team

Contract Details

• Outside IR35

• Competitive daily rate

• Largely remote (Northern Ireland) with occasional Belfast office visits

• Initial 6-month contract with strong extension potential
