Building Surveyor

Location: Heddon Way, NE34 0NT

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 12+ Months

Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 09:00 - 17:00

Pay Rate: £20.66 per hour

Job Responsibilities

Carry out building surveys across council-managed properties

Support facilities management and building services operations

Identify building defects and recommend appropriate remedial actions

Ensure works comply with relevant health and safety legislation

Liaise with contractors, colleagues, and internal stakeholders

Maintain accurate records and reports relating to inspections and works

Support compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements

Person Specification

Must-Have Requirements

Relevant building surveying qualification or equivalent experience

Valid CSCS trade card

Asbestos Awareness certification

Manual Handling training

Working at Height training

Abrasive Wheels training

Full UK driving licence

Right to work in the UK

Ability to provide two written employment references (minimum six months' coverage, including most recent employer)

Willingness to undergo DBS checks and medical clearance if required

Nice-to-Have Requirements

Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment

Knowledge of facilities management within large property portfolios

Familiarity with NEPO procedures and documentation
