Psychology Graduate - Mental Health Support - Oxford

Are you a recent Psychology graduate eager to gain hands-on experience working with children who have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? Are you considering a future in educational psychology, clinical psychology, child development, or a related field?

This is an excellent opportunity to build your experience in a highly regarded specialist school that supports children aged 4-16, with a primary diagnosis of Autism and associated SEMH challenges.

As a Mental Health Supoprt Assistant, you will:

Work closely with students on a one-to-one and small group basis, helping them access the curriculum and manage their emotions and behaviours.
Support their personal development by promoting social skills, resilience, and emotional regulation.
Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation, behaviour management, and daily classroom routines.
Adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of students, helping them reach age-appropriate milestones both academically and emotionally.
Be part of a collaborative, supportive team focused on therapeutic and educational progress.This role offers fantastic training and guidance, making it ideal for graduates looking to gain first-hand insight into child and adolescent mental health and neurodiversity within an educational setting.

What you need to be a good Mental Health Support Assistant:

A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people.
Calm, compassionate, adaptable, and confident in building positive relationships.
Previous experience with children or young people (e.g., in a school, youth work, care, volunteering) is a bonus - but not essential.What you can gain from working as a Mental Health Support Assistant:
