Location: Birmingham

Overview:
The Sustainability & Building Physics team of this globally recognised firm is integral to the response of the built environment sector to the international ecological and climate emergencies. The team collaborates with key organizations like the international and UK-based Green Building Councils, aiming to build a healthier, more sustainable built environment in line with the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs).

This company is known for going beyond the conventional compliance criteria, focusing on innovation in every project they undertake. They are highly regarded for their track record of designing sustainable and energy-efficient solutions that reduce the usage of natural resources.

Responsibilities:
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and driven Principal Engineer to join a dynamic team in Birmingham. You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting sustainable design projects locally and globally.

In this role, you will work under the supervision of seasoned professionals, enhancing your current understanding and expertise in energy modelling. You will assist in formulating energy and sustainability strategies for both new and existing buildings, with a path provided to work towards Chartership via accredited training schemes.

Key work areas include, but are not limited to:
* Building physics and parametric modelling
* Design for performance, predictive energy modelling and operational energy assessments (TM54 and DfP)
* Planning and Building Regulations
* Bespoke sustainability services

In addition, the chosen candidate will contribute to the company's aspirations of living in harmony with the environment.

Experience: 10+ years operating within the built environment is essential for this role. Having operated within a multi discipline consultancy would be a bonus and make the transition smoother

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a Master's degree in Engineering and have gained practical experience in a similar role. Key skills include a profound understanding of building physics, particularly regarding heat transfer, energy, comfort criteria, CIBSE Guidance, and other industry standards.

An extensive knowledge of dynamic simulation software and UK Building Regulations is essential, including a thorough understanding of the National Calculation Methodology and mechanical design.

Proficiency in coding or a modern programming language is necessary for this role.

Furthermore, due to the collaborative and client-centric nature of this role, excellent communication skills and some experience overcoming challenges using initiative are crucial.
