Salary: £10 / hourly

We are recruiting for an experienced teaching assistant to work at a school in Helston. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years' experience within schools, be confident going into different schools and working with different abilities. The hours are flexible, and you will be provided with an online diary to allow you to keep us updated with your availability.

You will need to be enthusiastic and committed to ensuring students receive the best education possible. To do this you will need to be observant and be pro-active to ensure that students are supported and achieve to their highest possible standard. You will be taking instructions from the class teacher who will plan the students work and inform you of what the students are doing that day. Curriculum knowledge is very important so you know what students should be working on when going into a classroom. There may be times when you are required to plan extra work for the students for example when you are working in small groups or on a 1:1 basis. If you are working with students to help them complete their work and provide extra assistance you will be required to mark their work and report back to the class teacher so they are aware of their progress that day and can plan specific work to aid them with a topic they may be struggling with. You will also need good communication skills as you will need to liaise with the class teacher, head, SENCO, and parents.

It is important that you are enthusiastic to involved with activities within the class such as PE, arts and crafts, music, sports days and plays. We also want to hear about any other hobbies / interests you have which can be brought into the classroom and make you stand out to a school. If you are interested in growing your own vegetables, you could start a vegetable patch in the school and involve the children as part of their education.

You will need to be aware of Child Protection, Health and Safety, Behaviour, Teaching and Learning and Equal Opportunities policies. You will also need a Child Workforce DBS which can be completed during the recruitment process
