Are you a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant seeking a career change?

Would you like to join a large charity who support young people with autism and learning disabilities to thrive in the world of work?

The young people are typically aged 16 - 21, and as part of their course they will be going on work experience placements for Birmingham Council which you will support them on.

You based location will be Woodcock Street.  And then you will visit Lancaster Circus and Dolman Road (all within walking distance) to meet the young people in their placements.

Your role will vary day to day, but could include:

Supporting the young person to plan their journey to work so they can become independent
Attending work with them, working closely with employers to provide support as needed
Help the young person apply for paid work with CV writing, job applications and interview preparation
End of day calls with the young person and employer to check on progress
Liaising closely with the tutor around potential extra support needs
You will have a caseload of 5 - 6 young people and you will be making a huge difference in their lives. 

You might have experience of working with young people with support needs, so could have worked as a tutor, teacher or learning support assistant or teaching assistant.  You might have also worked as a support worker, hostel worker, careers advisor or employment advisor. The charity also welcome recent graduate who might have a relational degree such as Youth or Psychology and have some experience of working with young people.
