Maintenance Fitter - Camden British Rail Freight DepotSalary: £40,000
Hours: 42 per week
Are you a talented Maintenance Fitter who takes pride in keeping complex machinery running at its best? Join our team at the Camden British rail freight depot and play a crucial part in a fast-paced, high-performing operation where your skills genuinely make a difference.
We're looking for someone hands-on, proactive, and technically confident, someone who's not afraid to get stuck in, solve problems, and keep our equipment operating safely and efficiently.

What You'll Be DoingMaintenance & Repairs
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to keep plant equipment performing at its best.
- Improve reliability while helping drive down operational costs.
- Diagnose faults, analyse failures and take corrective action.
- Conduct inspections, adjustments and calibrations to company standards.
Mechanical Operations
- Perform mechanical repairs on machinery, equipment, and site infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot bulk storage and material handling systems including silos, vessels, hoppers and pneumatic/mechanical transport systems.
- Maintain pumping, compressed air and pneumatic systems.
Lifting & Handling
- Carry out lifting, rigging and slinging operations.
- Operate cranes and hoists (where trained).
Documentation & Drawings
- Work confidently from written instructions, engineering drawings, plans and system diagrams.
Hydraulics & Pneumatics
- Apply working knowledge of pneumatic systems to identify faults and support rectification works.
Welding & Fabrication
(Where applicable to your experience)
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks including bending, folding, cutting and rolling.
- Use a variety of welding processes including MMA, MIG, TIG, arc-air and mixed-gas systems.
Fitting
- Deliver high-standard bench fitting including keys, pulleys, gears, couplings, pneumatic drives, motors and control valves.

Desirable qualifications include:
- Time-served Electrician with City & Guilds Electrical qualifications or relevant NVQ.
- BTEC/NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering.
- City & Guilds 2360 Electrical Installation Pt1 & Pt2.
- City & Guilds #removed#th Edition IEE Regulations.
- BS 4872 MMA/MIG Welding Training.
