Our client is looking for a Part-Qualified (Finalist) Management Accountant to join their business based in Birmingham. This position is paying up to £50k per annum and requires 4 days per week on-site.
What you'll do:
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations to ensure timely financial reporting.
- Support the month-end close process by collaborating with colleagues across finance and operational teams to gather relevant data and insights.
- Assist in producing detailed forecasts and budgets that inform strategic decision-making for the business unit.
- Analyse variances between actual results and budgeted figures, providing clear explanations and recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain robust financial controls by ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations specific to the construction industry.
- Work closely with project managers to monitor costs, track project performance, and identify areas for efficiency gains.
- Utilise COINS or similar construction industry systems to extract data and generate insightful reports for senior management.
- Contribute to year-end audit preparation by compiling schedules, responding to auditor queries, and supporting statutory account production.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining finance processes and enhancing reporting accuracy.
- Provide ad hoc analysis as required by senior stakeholders to support business planning and operational effectiveness.
What you bring:
- You MUST be finalist level in ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualifications with only one exam remaining before becoming fully qualified.
- You have proven experience preparing management accounts within the construction industry or a related sector where COINS or similar ERP systems are used extensively.
- Your background includes significant involvement in month-end processes such as journal posting, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- You possess excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to collaborate effectively with colleagues across finance and operational functions.
- Your approach is methodical and detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of financial reporting and compliance.
- Experience supporting audit processes by preparing schedules and responding promptly to queries is highly desirable.
- You demonstrate strong Excel skills for data manipulation and report generation; familiarity with other reporting tools is advantageous.
- Your communication style is clear and considerate when explaining complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- A positive attitude towards continuous improvement means you are always looking for ways to enhance processes within a supportive team setting.
