SEMH Teaching Assistant

Pay: £90 - £110 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

A specialist provision in Enfield is seeking a committed and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom may have experienced challenges accessing mainstream education.

The setting offers a nurturing, structured, and inclusive environment tailored to help pupils build confidence, regulate emotions, and re-engage with learning. As a key member of the support team, you will contribute to a child-centred approach that recognises the importance of positive relationships, emotional development, and personalised support.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide consistent, one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs

Support the delivery of personalised learning and intervention programmes

Promote emotional regulation and use therapeutic, trauma-informed strategies

Build trusting relationships to encourage self-esteem, resilience, and independence

Work closely with teachers, pastoral leads, therapists, and families

Encourage social and academic development through targeted support

Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and aspirational school environment

Requirements:

Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service

Right to work in the UK

Experience supporting children with SEMH, trauma, or behavioural needs

Ability to remain calm under pressure with a compassionate, patient approach

Excellent communication skills and a team-focused attitude

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
