Overview:

Join a dynamic, family-run business in a key role as a Quantity Surveyor managing both housing and fit-out projects. This role offers the opportunity to work with prestigious projects within the finishing trade, particularly in the painting sector. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the commercial management of these projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Monthly Valuations:

Conduct regular site visits to assess housing and fit-out projects.

Prepare and submit monthly valuations for ongoing projects to ensure cash flow is maintained and aligned with contract terms.

Variations Management:

Identify, price, and submit variations (e.g., CAIS, SIS) in line with contractual agreements.

Ensure accurate documentation and justifications for variations.

Daywork Sheets:

Prepare and submit daywork sheets, ensuring they are tracked and aligned with the project scope.

Communication with Project Teams:

Liaise daily with site supervisors, project managers, and the client team to resolve issues, provide updates, and ensure project continuity.

Facilitate clear communication on all commercial matters, ensuring smooth operations between teams.

Post-Tender Meetings:

Assist with post-tender meetings to review costs and contractual obligations with clients and internal stakeholders.

Final Accounts Preparation:

Compile and manage the preparation of final accounts for projects, ensuring all financial elements are captured and processed.

Project Handover:

Coordinate handover meetings for new projects, ensuring that all contract details and documentation are accessible in the cloud for relevant teams.

Labour Target Allocation:

Allocate and track labour targets for new projects, ensuring resources are deployed efficiently to meet deadlines and budgets.

Price Worker Booking Tracking:

Monitor and track the price and booking of workers across housing and fit-out projects, ensuring optimal cost control and resource allocation.

Cost Reporting:

Provide accurate and detailed monthly cost reports, tracking expenses against the budget and advising on potential cost overruns.

Electronic Measuring:

Use electronic measuring software (where required) to accurately measure and assess project dimensions.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have experience in the commercial and fit-out sectors, particularly in managing prestige projects. You will be familiar with lump-sum and schedule-of-rates contracts and have a deep understanding of the finishing trade within construction. A background in painting, drylining, plastering, or fit-out is a plus but not essential.

Skills and Experience:

Experience: Proven experience in commercial, housing, and fit-out sectors.

Contracts: Strong working knowledge of lump-sum and schedule-of-rates contracts.

Contract Types: Familiarity with M3NHF, bespoke, and NSR contracts is advantageous.

Client & Contractor Relationships: Experience in working with both contractors and clients, building and maintaining strong relationships.

Analytical & Financial Management: Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and strong financial management capabilities.

Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive cost efficiencies.

Problem Solving: Proactive approach to problem-solving and cost control.

Software Skills: Experience with electronic measuring software is a plus.

Desirable Background:

Background in painting, drylining, plastering, or fit-out trades is advantageous but not essential.

Intermediate to Senior Quantity Surveyor level.
