Senior Systems Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our Systems team within a leading Defence business. This is a hands-on engineering role with potential for growth into team leadership.

You'll work across the full systems engineering lifecycle—from requirements capture and design through to testing and qualification—for a variety of solutions.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the System Design Authority and Systems Engineering Team Leads in:

* Defining and managing project requirements

* Creating and reviewing technical documentation

* Conducting system analysis and design work

* Participating in technical design reviews

* Contribute to bid proposals and customer documentation

* Carry out development studies and investigations into product performance

* Interface with internal stakeholders and support collaborative, cross-functional teams

* Work both independently and as part of a larger technical team, managing complex problems to tight deadlines

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

* Proven team leadership experience (leading 2+ engineers)

* End-to-end systems engineering lifecycle experience (requirements to certification)

* Strong technical documentation skills

* Understanding of engineering processes and policies

* Self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision

* Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent

Desirable Skills

* Familiarity with IBM Rational DOORS

* Experience using SysML or UML

* Working knowledge of configuration management systems
