Our client, a well-established and growing organisation based in the Cambridge area, is seeking an experienced Transport Manager to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in managing transport operations within a professional and supportive environment.

The Role

Reporting into senior management, you will take responsibility for the efficient and compliant running of transport operations, ensuring high service levels and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day transport operations including routing, scheduling and fleet utilisation

Ensure compliance with UK transport legislation and Operator Licence requirements

Lead, supervise and support drivers and transport staff

Monitor vehicle maintenance, servicing, MOTs and defect reporting processes

Maintain accurate records and transport documentation

Ensure compliance with Driver Hours, Working Time Directive and tachograph regulations

Investigate incidents, manage compliance issues and implement corrective actions

Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal departments

Manage transport budgets and control operational costs

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery

Support recruitment, training and performance management of drivers

Promote health & safety standards across the transport function

Produce KPI and performance reports for senior management

About You

Proven experience in a Transport Manager or senior transport supervisory role

Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance

Transport Manager CPC qualification preferred

Excellent organisational and leadership skills

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
