Description Composes, types, and signs non-routine correspondence. Keeps administrative calendar, surgical calendar, Orthopaedic out-time calendar. Takes accurate information from physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to complete paperwork. Books surgeries and makes sure appropriate surgical information is given to patients and pre-op date has been set. Schedules appropriate pre-op testing and pre-op care for patients and notifies the appropriate places (ie. patients, OR, admitting office). Schedules follow-up testing and appointments for patients, pulls and prepares charts for clinic (making sure all xrays, MRI, labs and bone scan information is available for clinic), electronically files any medical records, letters, and lab information into medical chart. Handles all medical record requests and depositions. Speaks with insurance carriers regarding authorizations for surgeries, injections, xrays, and MRI's. May supervise other secretarial and clerical assistants, and performs other duties as assigned.
RequirementsRequires two years of post high school education in secretarial studies or the equivalent and at least three years of secretarial and office experience, including one year in a position which demonstrated the ability to work with minimum supervision and to direct an office operation or a combination of formal training and experience. Required advance secretarial skills.
