Are you passionate about supporting young people to thrive both academically and emotionally? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Officer to join a supportive secondary school in Taunton, Somerset.

This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role within the pastoral team, helping to create a positive, inclusive and structured environment where all students can succeed.

About the Role

As a Behaviour Support Officer, you will be instrumental in promoting positive behaviour, supporting student wellbeing, and ensuring all learners are able to engage with their education effectively.

Your role will be varied and impactful, including:

Leading the day-to-day running of the internal referral room, ensuring a calm and purposeful environment
Providing one-to-one mentoring and behavioural support for students
Developing and implementing pastoral support plans
Supporting and supervising after-school detentions
Assisting with behaviour investigations and restorative practices
Monitoring and analysing behaviour data to identify trends and inform interventions
Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral leaders and parents to support student progress
You will build strong, professional relationships with students, acting as a positive role model and helping them reflect on and improve their behaviour.

We are looking for someone who is:

Experienced in working with secondary-aged students, particularly those with challenging behaviour
Calm, resilient and able to work effectively under pressure
A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
Organised, proactive and able to use their initiative
Confident working both independently and as part of a team
Committed to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
Experience with behaviour management systems (such as Class Charts) and mentoring young people would be highly advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
