Job Title: Calf Rearer (Temporary/Seasonal, Part-time)

Start Date: 1st Feb 2026
Employment Type: 2 full days per week (with potential for additional hours during peak season)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Calf Rearer to join our team on a part time basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in the operation of our client's dairy farm throughout the busy spring period. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong dairy experience, confidence working independently, and a genuine interest in livestock and farm operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Feeding calves according to established protocols (milk, concentrates, water).
- Monitoring calf health and behaviour; promptly reporting any signs of illness.
- Bedding calves and maintaining clean, comfortable housing environments.
- Cleaning pens, feeding equipment, and calf sheds.
- Assisting with record-keeping related to calf health, feeding, and treatments.
- Supporting general farm tasks as required (yard work, cleaning, handling animals).
- Adhering to all farm health, safety, and animal-welfare standards.
Preferred but Not Essential
- Experience with milking operations.
- Ability to operate farm machinery such as loaders, tractors, or telehandlers.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with calves or livestock.
- Strong work ethic and ability to carry out physical tasks.
- Good observational skills with attention to animal health and welfare.
- Ability to work independently and follow established routines.
- Reliable transport to and from the farm.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
