We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Maths Lecturer to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills Maths across a range of curriculum areas. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking FE college where Maths is central to student success and progression.

The Role

You will teach GCSE and Functional Skills Maths to learners across a variety of vocational pathways, playing a key role in improving achievement, engagement, and progression outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

Deliver high-quality GCSE and Functional Skills Maths lessons to 16-18 learners
Plan and prepare engaging schemes of work, lessons, and resources
Assess student progress through coursework, exams, and ongoing feedback
Monitor attendance, achievement, and behaviour, implementing interventions where needed
Support student inductions, progress reviews, and pastoral development
Contribute to curriculum development and course leadership where required
Utilise e-learning and digital tools to enhance delivery
Participate in open days, recruitment events, and quality improvement processes

Essential Requirements

Degree in Maths (or related subject) or strong experience teaching GCSE Maths
Experience delivering GCSE and/or Functional Skills Maths
Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE/DET or equivalent) or willingness to work towards
Strong classroom management and ability to engage 16-18 learners
Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills
Commitment to inclusive learning, safeguarding, and equality & diversity

Desirable

Experience working within Further Education
Ability to take on course leadership responsibilities
Understanding of GCSE and Functional Skills assessment frameworks
