REED/LTA are seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join an SEN hub at a vibrant Preston-based primary school in Preston. This role requires experience in special educational needs (SEN), as you will be working with a class of 8 children with complex needs across various primary ages. The position is active and dynamic, under the guidance of a teacher, and offers the potential to extend throughout the academic year.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Support a class of 8 children with complex needs in the SEN hub.
- Work under the direction of the classroom teacher to implement lesson plans and educational activities tailored to the needs of each child.
- Assist in creating a supportive, engaging, and safe learning environment for students with SEN.
- Utilise specialised strategies to promote student engagement and effective learning.
- Monitor and support the children’s progress and well-being throughout the school day.
- Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and the setup of the classroom.
- Engage in physical activities with the children to support their educational and developmental needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Proven experience working with children with SEN, particularly within a primary school setting.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by children with complex needs and the ability to adapt to these effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact positively with children, staff, and parents.
- Energetic and enthusiastic approach, capable of meeting the physical demands of the role.
