Primary objectives for the Active Communities Manager will be:

Primary Objectives for the Active Communities Manager:

  • Develop innovative interventions and programmes to reduce participation gaps in sport and physical activity among Vale of Glamorgan residents.
  • Contribute to Sport Wales and Vale of Glamorgan Council's vision for health and wellbeing by creating new and developing existing sport and physical activity opportunities, focusing on increasing sustainable participation among the least active groups.
  • Use evidence and insight to develop, implement, and monitor an Active Communities Strategy plan that maximizes commercial returns from Leisure Centres and reflects community needs.
  • Identify and actively apply for external funding to develop and deliver programmes within the Vale of Glamorgan Contract.
  • Raise the profile of the Centres locally and nationally in a positive and proactive manner.
  • Coordinate and participate in projects and programmes within the Leisure Centres.
  • Fulfill the requirements set out in the Leisure Contract specification.
Day-to-day tasks for the Active Communities Manager:

  • Work with local sports development officers, Public Health, third-sector partners, and community organizations to ensure activities complement and link to the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Sport Wales vision.
  • Maximize participation and use of the centers, including all courses and activities.
  • Meet and liaise, formally and informally, with the client, community, user, and non-user groups.
  • Assist in marketing and publicity of all activities and events, and develop distribution networks for promotional materials and merchandising, including corresponding with clubs, groups, and individuals.
  • Produce information, reports, and material to communicate matters relating to the programme, centre events, and other associated activities.
  • Carry out surveys and produce reports to demonstrate the effectiveness of the service and the Active Communities Strategy Plan, and identify commercial opportunities for future activities.
  • Recruit, induct, and support casual coaches, ensuring quality sessions and adherence to Legacy Leisure policies and procedures.
  • Undertake administrative and financial tasks, including managing project budgets.
  • Actively participate in developing a positive Health and Safety culture across the Leisure Centres.
  • Work closely with local management teams on delivering the Active Communities Strategy Plan.
  • Undertake any other duties as required by the Contract Manager to achieve the business objectives of the Contract.
Qualifications

  • The post holder will have a recognised qualification in Leisure Management, Sports development or a related subject.
  • one or more years in sports development role
  • one or more year of experience in supervising or managing a team

  • Effectiveness in identifying problems, seeking relevant date, recognising important and diagnosing possible causes
  • Competent IT skills

The post holding will work flexibility, moving around the Vale leisure facilities impacts the contract as a whole. A full driving license is required for this role. The role is also subject to a DBS check process. Working hours will generally be Monday to Friday but there will be a need for evening and weekend working occasionally.
