Job Description

Fairville Management Company, LLC ("FVMC") is seeking a Controller to become an integral part of our team! FVMC is a residential property management company, managing over 30 properties in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania, totaling over 2,000 units.  While the organization continues to grow and has been recognized as a leader in the affordable housing community, FVMC is committed to maintaining its small business roots, where personal interaction and attention to the needs of residents are the first priority.  We welcome an Analytical Controller with a strong general ledger background, responsible for development, analysis and interpretation of financial information for the Company and all managed properties.  You will oversee financial activities and personnel as well as identify areas of improvement to increase efficiency.   


  • Oversee and coordinate all financial activities and personnel
  • Responsible for maintaining the General Ledgers in accordance with GAAP
  • Lead monthly financial close process for the Company and all properties
  • Review and present monthly owner reporting packages and ensure reporting is complete, accurate and timely
  • Establish and review all internal financial controls
  • Prepare audit packages for independent auditors, review audited reports and manage the relationship with external auditors
  • Oversee federal, state and local tax reporting requirements and returns
  • Lead annual budgeting process and conduct monthly budget to actual reviews and investigate all variances
  • Perform portfolio reviews and breakeven analysis
  • Recommend cost saving tactics and implement process efficiencies
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory restrictions and covenants
  • Communicate with investors, lenders and owners
  • Maintain all insurance coverage requirements, policies and renewals
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules
  • Responsible for understanding property tax valuation and appealing assessments if necessary
  • Other functions as necessary to maintain the financial integrity of all entities


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 4-5 years of accounting experience 
  • Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Strong financial analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Strong excel skilled
  • Self-starter, dependable, adaptable and requires minimal supervision
  • Partnership accounting


  • Experience leading a team
  • Public accounting background
  • Experience in LIHTC, HUD and RD property management
  • CPA
  • Experience with Timberline, Yardi or Real Page software
