Job Title: HGV Mechanic
Location: Shotts, Scotland
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:30
Salary: £42,000 - £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

About the Role:

We're looking for an experienced and dependable HGV Mechanic to join a well-established transport operation based in Shotts. Working in a fully equipped workshop, you'll carry out routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs across a varied fleet of HGVs and trailers, ensuring all vehicles remain safe, roadworthy, and compliant with DVSA standards.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with consistent weekday hours and a highly competitive salary package.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults on HGVs and trailers

*

Conduct routine inspections and servicing in line with DVSA and company standards

*

Carry out MOT preparations, safety checks, and post-repair testing

*

Record all work carried out using internal job card systems

*

Liaise with drivers and operations staff to report defects and plan repairs

*

Maintain workshop tools and equipment to a high standard

*

Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to all Health & Safety policies

Requirements:

Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic / Commercial Vehicle Technician

*

Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills

*

NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent qualification) preferred

*

Knowledge of modern HGV systems (braking, suspension, electronics, etc.)

*

Full UK driving licence (HGV licence is advantageous)

*

Ability to work independently with a focus on safety and quality
