Finance Assistant, Oldham Based

£29,000 - £31,000 DOE

We are looking for a reliable and detail‑focused Finance Assistant to support a high‑performing Financial Manager and wider Finance Team across all areas of company accounts and financial systems. This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities and a solid grounding in accounting processes.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the accounts processes across Purchase, Sales and Nominal Ledgers, including accurate data entry, invoice processing, reconciliations and maintaining up‑to‑date financial records to ensure smooth month‑end and year‑end workflows.

• Handling queries, including outstanding debts, by investigating discrepancies, liaising with customers and suppliers, and ensuring timely resolution to maintain healthy cashflow and strong working relationships.

• Assisting the Financial Manager with the preparation of Financial and Management Accounts, contributing to journals, accruals, prepayments and other key month‑end tasks to support accurate reporting.

• Supporting Financial and Management Reporting, including gathering data, updating spreadsheets, preparing summaries and ensuring information is presented clearly and on time for internal review.

• Providing general 'right‑hand' support to the Financial Controller and Finance Director, taking ownership of delegated tasks, maintaining organised documentation, and ensuring the wider finance function operates efficiently and professionally.

Essentials

* Minimum 3-4 years proven experience within a similar role

* AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting (or equivalent recognised qualification)

* Previous experience within construction or engineering environments will prove a strong advantage.

* Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail

* Professional, confident and able to work effectively with a wide range of people

* Sound judgement and discretion when handling sensitive information

* Calm and capable in a high‑pressure, target‑driven environment

* Self‑motivated with the ability to prioritise independently

* Eager to learn and develop within the role
