What will you be doing?This is a practical, build-focused role working within a small, collaborative team. You will be assembling, wiring, and testing both battery and mains-powered hardware products that run Linux-based software. This includes integrating hardware, flashing and configuring firmware, and performing electrical and quality checks. You'll also support installation and product improvement efforts.
Key responsibilities include:*?Mechanical assembly of portable and rack-mounted hardware using hand tools*?Wiring and soldering (non-SMT components, connectors, PCB components)*?Installing and configuring firmware and software via USB, network, or serial*?Testing built units to quality and safety standards, including PAT testing*?Crimping and building custom network/power cables and looms*?Following and improving build and test documentation*?Assisting with installations and internal support tasks when required*?Working closely with engineering to support build processes and new product introductions
What will you need?*?Experience in a hands-on technical or hardware build role*?Comfortable following technical build and test documentation*?Experience wiring 12/24VDC and 240VAC power components*?Basic understanding of IP networking and OS configuration*?Confidence using command-line interfaces and Windows terminal*?Strong soldering and crimping skills (including cable making)*?Experience with software/firmware installs via GUI or CLI*?Familiarity with power safety and earthing best practices*?Working knowledge of quality control processes*?Ability to document work accurately using MS Office
What would be desirable?*?3+ years of experience in electronics, automotive electrics, or IT hardware assembly*?Experience with cellular modems, SIM configuration, and antenna connectors (SMAs)*?Familiarity with PAT testing and power testing equipment*?Experience using Bills of Materials (BoMs) for hardware builds
Certifications (any of the following highly desirable):*?Relevant qualifications in electronics, electrical engineering, or IT hardware assembly*?PAT testing certification*?Networking or Linux fundamentals certifications
