Henderson Scott are recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join a SME business in Birmingham. This position will join a newly created finance team who have achieved ambitious growth year on year and look to add an additional member to their buoyant finance team.

This is a hybrid working role and offer flexible start and finish times.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Help prepare month-end reports and schedules.
  • Record accruals and prepayments related to invoices.
  • Assist the finance team with reconciliations and reviewing variances.
  • Manage staff expenses using Concur and company credit cards.
  • Receive and log invoices.
  • Track payments to make sure they follow internal processes.
  • Match supplier statements and fix any issues.
  • Check that VAT is applied and recorded correctly.
  • Help with audits by providing the needed documents and explanations.
  • Keep the fixed asset register updated.
  • Work out depreciation and check it matches what's posted in the system.

Your Profile:

  • Good understanding of accounting and finance processes.
  • Confident using accounting software and spreadsheets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Great attention to detail and good organisation.
  • Clear communication skills.

Salary:

£30,000 - £33,000
