A London Local Authority is seeking an experienced and dynamic Interim Director of Regeneration, Housing Supply & Assets to provide strategic and operational leadership across key capital programmes, regeneration projects, and housing development initiatives.

This is a critical leadership post focused on driving housing supply, managing corporate (non-housing) assets, and accelerating delivery on key mayoral priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the strategic delivery of regeneration and housing programmes, corporate real estate, and FM functions.

*

Provide day-to-day leadership across capital delivery and asset management portfolios.

*

Drive the delivery of new homes on council-owned land, working collaboratively with internal teams to accelerate development pipelines.

*

Oversee the mayor-approved capital programme and ensure effective performance and risk management.

*

Implement best-in-class housing development practices, improving outcomes across the new build programme.

*

Deliver key community infrastructure and extra care housing developments aligned to the Mayor's five regeneration priorities.

*

Work in close partnership with council executive leadership, the housing directorate, and the Mayor's office.

Key Deliverables:

*

Establish a funded development programme for unfunded housing sites.

*

Secure vacant possession of strategic land and property assets to meet 2025/26 delivery milestones.

*

Lead high-performing, multidisciplinary teams covering regeneration, housing development, real estate and FM.

*

Set a high standard for reporting, performance management, and innovative project monitoring practices.

*

Ensure robust governance and capital budget oversight, aligning to corporate reporting requirements.

*

Shape and support the creation of a corporate governance framework to keep the Mayor informed of programme performance.

Person Specification:

We are looking for an accomplished leader with a strong record of housing and regeneration delivery in the public or housing association sector, combined with commercial acumen in property development and asset management.

You will bring:

*

Substantial leadership experience in regeneration and housing development at scale, with deep knowledge of viability, land assembly, and strategic partnership working.

*

Proven expertise in corporate non-housing real estate and FM operations—or the ability to provide strategic oversight with sound technical understanding.

*

Experience in delivering land and property strategies, including repurposing and unlocking sites for development.

*

Strong programme management and reporting skills with the ability to manage risk, performance, and capital investment effectively.

*

Exceptional stakeholder engagement and political acumen, having worked directly with senior politicians or executive leaders.

*

A strategic mindset with the ability to deliver at pace in complex, high-pressure environments.
