About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to support Bath & North East Somerset Council, working closely with senior leaders to deliver impactful, people-focused solutions across a diverse range of services. This role will have a particular focus on supporting our operational teams based at local depots, predominantly in Keynsham and Bath.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive HR professional who thrives in a dynamic public-sector environment and is confident operating as a trusted adviser.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with senior managers to design and implement workforce strategies aligned with council objectives.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, workplace resolution, capability and change management.
  • Support organisational development programmes, restructures and service redesign activities.
  • Lead on recruitment and retention strategies to attract and retain talent across critical roles.
  • Champion equality, diversity and inclusion across all council services.
  • Utilise workforce data and HR analytics to inform decision-making, identify trends, and support continuous improvement.
About You

We’re looking for a confident, solutions-focused HR Generalist/Business Partner with the following:

  • Significant HR Business Partner experience, ideally within local government or wider public sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and local government HR frameworks.
  • Demonstrable experience managing change and supporting organisational transformation.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret people data to identify risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • CIPD Level 7 (or equivalent experience).
