Senior Town Planner

Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be supporting a leading national multi disciplinary consultancy in their search for a Senior Town Planner to join their growing team in Nottingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner to work within a well-established consultancy delivering a wide range of planning projects across the residential, commercial, industrial, energy, and infrastructure sectors. The role offers strong project ownership, client exposure, and clear opportunities for progression within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will lead planning projects from early strategy through to determination, providing high-quality and commercially focused planning advice.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing and delivering planning applications, appeals, and pre-application submissions

Preparing planning statements, supporting documentation, and strategic planning advice

Undertaking site appraisals and detailed planning policy analysis

Acting as the main point of contact for clients, local authorities, and consultants

Attending meetings, site visits, and committee hearings as required

Supporting and mentoring junior planners within the team

Contributing to planning strategy and wider project delivery

About You

The successful Senior Town Planner will have:

MRTPI Chartered status (or be close to achieving chartership)

Solid private sector experience within a planning consultancy

Proven experience managing planning applications independently

Strong understanding of the UK planning system and development management

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

A proactive, organised, and commercially aware approach
