Behaviour Support Assistant

Secondary SEMH Setting
Location: Blackburn with Darwen
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Pay: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour

We are seeking a committed and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a supportive Secondary SEMH setting in Blackburn with Darwen. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs

Helping pupils regulate behaviour and develop positive coping strategies

Working 1:1 and in small groups to promote engagement in learning

Assisting staff in creating a safe, structured and positive learning environment

Contributing to behaviour plans and de-escalation strategies

Building strong, supportive relationships with pupils

Requirements:

Experience working with young people, ideally in SEMH or behaviour support

Strong communication and de-escalation skills

Patience, resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure

A proactive and supportive approach

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
