Zen Educate is seeking a resilient and creative Maths Teacher for a full-time, long-term position at a dedicated specialist school in Bristol.

This role is available to start as soon as possible and requires a teacher who can deliver a functional and engaging Mathematics curriculum to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated learning challenges. You will have full teaching responsibilities, including planning, marking, and contributing to EHCP reviews.

The Role: Functional Learning & Emotional Support

Working in an SEMH setting requires a teacher who can look beyond the numbers. You will be teaching small classes of students who may have had negative experiences with mainstream education, helping them regain confidence in their mathematical abilities through a high-support, low-pressure approach.

Key Responsibilities:

Bespoke Curriculum: Planning and delivering Maths lessons ranging from Entry Level and Functional Skills up to GCSE, tailored to individual student abilities and interests.

Engagement: Finding practical, real-world applications for Maths (e.g., money management, construction, or cooking) to keep students motivated and focused.

Behaviour for Learning: Implementing positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies to maintain a calm and productive classroom environment.

*

Holistic Tracking: Monitoring academic progress alongside social and emotional development targets in line with student EHCPs.

*

Team Collaboration: Working closely with a team of skilled Teaching Assistants and therapeutic staff to support each student's overall well-being.

What We Are Looking For:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS: Essential.

*

Maths Specialist: Strong subject knowledge with the ability to simplify complex concepts for students with additional needs.

*

SEMH Experience: Previous experience working with students with SEMH, ASD, or challenging behaviour is highly desirable.

*

Resilience & Patience: A calm, non-confrontational approach and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable young people.

*

Commitment: Someone who wants to make a long-term impact and become a stable, reliable figure in the students' school lives.
